What I Wish I Could Express Adequately

There are so many things I would like to say about the direction of the country under the leadership of President Barack Obama, but there are simply too many things to mention that trouble me.

I do want to give my two cents about the speech last night.  First of all,  WHAT A JOKE!  Has the whole world forgotten that President Obama doesn’t need to make any speeches to the country and to Congress about his ideas for healthcare reform.  His party has a SUPER MAJORITY.  This means he can pass whatever he wants without one single Republican voting for it.  So why are we hearing so much about this?

IF the Democrats and President Obama wanted to, they could pass something today.  They believe they have a mandate from the country with the victories of last November.  What’s the problem?

The “joke” is not funny.  It’s sad.  Sad that there is such a lack of moral fiber and character in the ruling party.  I’ll tell you why they haven’t passed anything on healthcare, and that is because they know there plan is bad.  But President Obama promised change and “changing” healthcare was one of his biggest campaign promises, so they want to get anything out there, so he can point to it and say, “see, I promised a change and here it is.”  The reason why we keep hearing that Republicans are keeping this from happening is because the Democrats know that when the healthcare program fails (if it ever gets passed) they will need to be able to point at the Republicans and declare that they were the reason it failed.

If only democrat Barak Obama and democrat senators and congressmen and women vote for it, they know they will be held responsible for what happens with it.

Here’s the last question:  If they are sooooo sure there plan is good, why not go for it without republican support?  Think about it, if it were successful, they could have ALL the credit and glory for making it happen.  The Democratic Party would rule for the next 30 years or more.

But that’s not the way the radical leadership of this country works.  They talk big and act big till they see the winds of “change” blowing the opposite direction from them.   Well, the winds are blowing harder and harder against them now, and my hope is that it will become a gale force wind that blows them clear out of Washington DC.   We need common sense leaders with strength of character and a powerful will to do what’s truly needed, regardless of party.

I don’t if I have really expressed my feelings adequately, so let me know if you agree or disagree.  BTW, I’ll approve every comment, as long it is relevant and not filled with curse words.

Warnings Unheeded

There’s simply too much to write about all the ways that President Obama is leading our nation, but remember all the warnings about how radical he is coming from this blog and countless others?  Do you remember the warnings against trusting his slick words about being a Christian?  In seven months, he has managed to do things that would have seen President Bush hung in effigy all over the country and in the news media.

The biggest thing I’ve been thinking recently is about how badly President Obama’s predictions have been about our growing National Debt.  He and his administration thought it would be $7,000,000,000,000 (that’s trillion), but have since had to come out with the number $9,200,000,000,000.  He missed it by over $2 trillion dollars?

Then the Cash For Clunkers program couldn’t be managed properly, and it was only a few billion dollars.  Yet, despite all of this bad handling of money and expectations and reality, President Obama still wants control of our health care system.  No way, people.  Let your thoughts be known!

I want to go back to how far off the Obama administration was off on the debt numbers.  Off by over $2 trillion dollars.  Do you realize that that number is over two times larger than the evil Iraqi war has cost our nation?  Haven’t heard that in the media though, have we.  The most hated, divisive issue in our country lately, and it’s financial cost has paled in comparison to the amount of national debt our President is racking up.

To see this for yourself, check this out!

We were all warned, but not enough of us listened.  I’m afraid things will get worse before we have a chance to see them get better.

Judges Judge Laws, Not Create Laws.

This concept is so important to the way our government runs. We have a law making body, Congress. We have a kind of CEO of the country in the president. The Supreme Court is there to ensure that the laws passed by Congress and signed by the president abide by the U.S. Constitution. They are not supposed to legislate by their decisions. In other words, they should not rule in cases where the results of their judgement either legalize or condemn actions or laws.

That’s why this new Supreme Court Justice selection is important. I know that the judge selected by President Obama will not have the political views I have, but all Supreme Court Justices should be what is known as a “strict constructionist”. This simply means that they unfailingly look to the Constitution to decide what should or should not be done.

There are many occasions of the Supreme Court “creating law” from the courtroom. The two most famous ones are the Dred Scott decision from 1857 and the Roe vs. Wade decision of 1973.

The results of these cases were hugely damaging to our country in my opinion. The Dred Scott decision came at a time when the country was moving ever closer to Civil War, and the tensions between slavery advocates and abolitionists was so high. The Supreme Court ruled that slaves could never be US citizens, could not sue for their freedom and were to be slaves even if their owners moved to a free state. They attempted to settle the extremely emotional issue based on their own political views, which were largely pro-slavery. They weren’t willing to consider that the Constitution said, “all men are created equal.”
The same thing happened with Roe vs. Wade, except the issue was abortion, not slavery, and the unborn child, as opposed to a black man has been denied existence as a person deserving the same protection under the Constitution that a person outside of the womb receives.

Judge Sotomayor is NOT a strict constructionist. She has had some highly controversial decisions that have made it very easy to wonder if she isn’t a racist. 5 out of 6 decisions she made that were appealed to the US Supreme Court were reversed, because they were determined to be the wrong decision.

That’s my two cents why I hope this judge will be rejected by the Congress.

Our Christian President?

I’m not worthy to judge someone’s salvation, but I can see the fruit being produced by this “Christian” president.

Once again I begin a post declaring that I do not hate or despise President Barack Obama, but strongly disagree with him on practically everything he is for.  My belief since before the election has been that he is a say anything, do anything it takes liberal politician who wants to completely reorganize the way this country is run, how it deals with the world around us and how it will be seen in the future.

I am so disappointed in the way that  President Obama declared himself a Christian throughout the campaign and used his charisma and personality to convince people that he is deeply Christian.  While he was running for president, we had plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise, from his pro-death position on abortion, his relationship with terrorist William Ayers and his twenty year membership and attendance at Jeremiah Wright’s church.  The “church” is nothing more than a hate factory manufacturing not disciples of Christ, but disciples of black supremacy and racism.

In his first 100 days as president, Obama has done a redo of his oath of office WITHOUT a Bible, which in times past was even OPEN (oh my goodness, how could this be?), demanded that all religious symbols of Christ be removed in advance of a speech he gave at Georgetown and now this latest happening:  He will not be partaking in a National Day of Prayer service, nor having a White House time of prayer.

If you are a Christian, how can these things take place?  Wouldn’t the Bible’s presence at the Inauguration have been a comfort?  See, to Christians the Bible isn’t just another bound book, but actual instructions for life, providing billions of people worldwide with wisdom and knowledge.  It’s not something you just don’t think about at such a huge moment.

What about the removal of the symbols for Christ at a recent speech?  The White House line was that they the removal was merely aesthetic, so that when the cameras shot the Chosen one, the background would be completely devoid of any symbol, Christian or otherwise.  Please.  Someone who’s life has been radically changed by the accepting the free gift of salvation that Jesus provided couldn’t agree to that.  A Christian should say, I don’t care what you think it looks like, the symbols stay.

And finally, Obama does away with any involvement with the National Day of Prayer, other than to sign a certificate honoring the day.  You must be joking.  Are we to believe that he’s just too busy saving America to take the time to attend a prayer service?  Didn’t he and Biden just find time to sneak out for a burger recently?  This is an intentional slap at Christianity, and is indefensible for a Christian leader.  How could a true Christian not just blow this day off, but rather, intentionally choose to do other things instead? The short answer is that they can’t.

It is my sincere belief that President Obama is NOT a Christian. Look at the evidence above.  How could a Christian make the decisions Obama has made?  If he is a Christian, he is a very misguided one, probably messed up most effectively by his long exposure to Jeremiah Wright.

My true belief is that Obama understands our nation and what he needed to say to get elected. In the USA, 90% of people believe in God and over 80% classify themselves as Christian, so it wouldn’t have made sense to say he wasn’t a Christian.  I believe his Christianity is a part of the facade he has put forth in order to advance his political fortunes.

He doesn’t have to be a Christian, and I don’t believe he is a muslim either. I think he is probably an agnostic or even a straight up atheist.  No where in the Constitution does it say that the president must be a Christian.  From many accounts, Abraham Lincoln was not a Christian until after he visited the battlefield at Gettysburg.   Freedom of Religion is a part of the Bill of Rights for every American, and freedom of religion can also be freedom FROM religion if you so choose.

However, if you know you’re not a Christian, or that you reject the majority of Christian theology and doctrine, just have the guts to say so.  State your case and stand by it.  Don’t lie just to get what you want.

The good news is, he isn’t a king.  We will be able to vote for another president again in three years, when hopefully there will be a strong candidate with integrity, character and the willingness to shoot straight with America, regardless of his or her religious feelings

Arlen Specter Leaves GOP….

It’s about time. He hasn’t been a Republican for a long time by the votes he has cast. Make no mistake, I’m not a  Republican myself, but the GOP historically has been closer to my own political feelings during my lifetime.

I love that he blamed it on how the right wing nuts like me have caused the party to leave him. In my opinion, the party has never been more liberal. For the last 4 years at least, the GOP has constantly backed down and refused to stand up for it’s platform. I think you have to fight fire with fire, and they haven’t done that on a national scale.

So, goodbye to Mr. Specter. Hopefully you will also resign your seat in the Senate as you begin to run again as a Democrat.

How Do You Feel?

picture-2

I  feel like I thought I would.  I expected to be worried about the direction things have gone and to be worried about the majority of the news media being in love with President Obama and not report truthfully about the issues.

In my opinion, there isn’t one single area of the American way of life that has been improved since President Obama has taken office.  The first 100 days is supposed to be full of meaningful actions and solid foundation building.    What follows are some of my thoughts about what has happened through the Obama administration in their first 100 days.

Socially, one of the first things he did was to do away with laws that prevented our tax dollars from supporting abortion and made it more difficult to receive an abortion.  In addition, his Secretary of Homeland Defense has recklessly (in my view) made the crime of illegal immigration, actually not a crime.   This will only serve to embolden the thousands of illegals who already flow through our borders and be a tipoff to potential terrorists that our southern border is a good way to get in the country again.

It’s my opinion that all of this talk about “torture” and “waterboarding” has weakened our intelligence services.  We need just a hair of Jack Bauer working for us in order to get important information from these suspects.  When one of them is captured now, they’ll be able to remain silent in comfort, knowing that nothing will be done to them, whether they talk or not.  I’m not saying anything goes, but if a terror suspect is captured and he has important information about an imminent attack, I’m for doing whatever it takes to get him to share that information.  I bet if the White House was targeted and it was his family in danger, President Obama might see things the same way.  The way his administration has treated this topic is sad and I fear will lead to more attacks on Americans in the next 4-6 years.

The economy has not recovered one bit and more and more jobs continue to go down the tubes each month.  Since he has taken office, almost 2 million people have lost jobs.  The election statistics had Barack Obama with roughly 52% of the vote and McCain with roughly 48%.  This means that statistically speaking, over half of the people who lost their jobs since he took office voted for him.  I wonder how they feel now?

Have you ever heard of anyone getting out of debt by going deeper into debt?  It’s a risky proposition at best and everyone I know would reject that as a plan of action, yet that is exactly what President Obama’s stimulus package and future spending.   The national debt will be ridiculously inflated  and that will eventually lead to more income taxes.  President Obama is attempting to be successful with a strategy that has been proven a failure on both the large and small scales.  You can’t spend your way to financial independence and you can’t tax people to lead your nation to prosperity.  It simply won’t work.

We have been asked to believe over and over again that President Bush was just shy of Adolf Hitler with his policies and methods.  President Obama preached to us over and over about transparency, honesty and integrity.  Unfortunately, his administration is riddled with smoke and mirrors to keep people from seeing the truth.  Remember when Obama bowed at the waist to the Saudi Arabian king?  If you’ve seen the video, you know that he definitely bowed to him, but the White House refuses to admit it.  President Obama cultivates and protects every single word that he says, using these stupid tele-prompters for everything.  I think he could earn some points with some people if he would just be natural and speak without those things from time to time.

We were told that there would be no lobbyists or special groups given favors in his administration, but the spending he proposes looks out for all kinds of special interest groups, while actually making business more difficult for other companies and organizations.  That is dishonest.  Actually, it was a lie.  Where was the integrity and character when he selected tax cheats for important cabinet positions?  It’s all very unbelievable to me, yet, it is happening.

I know so many people who bought into the campaign and charisma of our president in the last election.  I thought that the Obama campaign worked smarter than anyone ever has to help secure the victory.  They made great use of the technology available to us today to help get the message of hope and change across to American voters.

But I have to wonder how people who were convinced to vote for him feel today.  I know some people will probably not admit voting for him, sorry that they’ve done so, and others will gladly proclaim that they did vote for him and would again tomorrow if given the chance.  That’s the great thing about America, we get to choose.

I am a conservative and didn’t and wouldn’t vote for Barack Obama for reasons that have been written about in other posts on the blog.  I am not an I told you so kinda person, but I felt the need to express myself.   It is just my opinion, but I think it’s one that has been carefully arrived at, looking at facts and not just running off at the mouth because I dislike the president.

That’s enough from me though.  What do you think?  How do you feel?

Wish I Could Have Been There!

Today at over 500 locations across the nation, people gathered peacefully to protest the out of control spending and excessive taxation being placed upon America’s people.  These people are of all kinds of political backgrounds, but are more likely to be politically conservative than liberal.  There was a big gathering at the Legislative Plaze here in Nashville at noon today.

I had other things going on today, but MAN, I would have loved to have been there to lend my support and name to the cause.

Congress and the White House is hopefully paying attention!

Pirates Destroyed By Navy Seals With President Obama’s Approval

I have written plenty of posts about where I disagree with President Obama, but have also promised to give him credit when he makes good decisions.  I am so thankful for the decision to allow the Navy to bring the hostage standoff to a close by positioning Navy Seal snipers to take kill shots on the pirates, should they be given permission to engage by the White House.  Pictured above is Captain Richard Phillips with Commander Frank Castellano of the US Navy.

I applaud the decision to take out these pirates, and give kudos to President Obama for a great decision.

Hopefully this and future action will help dissuade the crazy pirates from taking over ships for their ill-gotten gains.   I am so proud of our military!

Obama Makes Insensitive Remark. Hear About it On Network News?

President Barack Obama, left, appears on The Tonig...Last night, President Obama appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  Things are going so poorly by anyone’s honest estimation, that he decided to hit the campaign trail to boost people’s opinion of him.  He understands that he has great charisma and seems like a great leader on camera when he’s just shooting the breeze, being cool.

During his interview, Leno asked him about his bowling score and Obama replied that he’s been working on it in the White House bowling alley and that he’s up to a 129, and said that basically still stunk and equated it to someone in the “Special Olympics”.

That makes me so stinking mad!  How rude and wrong of him to say such a thing.  What made it worse to me was that he didn’t see anything wrong with his remark at the time, choosing to rather bask in the glow of laughter of the audience.

I don’t intend to disrespectful, but this remark is another evidence of President Obama’s lack of character and/or lack of common sense.  No teleprompter, so he got himself in trouble, but he had to be told by his White House staff that what he said would cause problems.   Sure, he apologized, but it’s that lack of character and awareness of the fact he was speaking outloud over a live microphone that scares the crap out of me.  Where will it stop?  What important thing will he screw up?  We’re already being witnesses to that.

Now, if President Bush were to have said something like this, we would never EVER hear the end of this.  Every night, we were treated to people making fun of President Bush.  As I’m watching the evening news on CBS and checking CNN and MSNBC, you have to dig very deeply to find any mention of this ridiculous gaffe.  How much longer will America turn a blind eye to the deficiencies of this would be leader?

Remember all the people who warned that we didn’t need a president with no real experience?  He has none, and that lack of experience is beginning to show through in every aspect of his presidency.   Just think, he’s only two months into his term.

Hope & Change Takes More Than Words & Charm

I heard something today that has completely and totally confirmed what I believe is unfortunately true of our current president, Barack Obama.  I was listening to a conservative talk radio program which had as it’s guest, Rep. John Boehner from Ohio.  If you don’t know who that is, I’ll tell you.  Rep. Boehner is the leading Republican in the House of Representatives.  He’s the guy that got up and called out the Senate and House of Representatives on the rush job to pass President Obama’s stimulus package.  From the time the bill was finished to the time they were voting on it, there were very few hours in which the Senators and Congresspeople had to read the bill.  In short, Boehner threw the harsh spotlight called truth on this bill that was being rammed down the throats of the American people.  He scolded them for not having read the bill and for not allowing time for the people of this country to give any feedback.

Back to the title.  President Obama seems like a truly friendly, personable and likable guy.  I have a friend who had the opportunity to drive a bus that Barack and Michelle rode on during the campaign and he reports that they’re both super nice.  Everyone who spends time with him likes him, as I’m sure I would.

For all his charm however, President Obama is just like one of the people we all have in our circle of friends or associates: they talk a HUGE game, but when you need to call on them, they’re nowhere to be found.  When you talk to them and confirm details about this or that, they pretend to understand and be on board, until they feel pressure from an opposing viewpoint, then POOF, they’re gone.

During the stimulus debate the administration and democrats cried out about how the republicans wouldn’t vote for it, because they didn’t have a plan to submit, and that they were just being difficult by not voting for the stimulus bill.  That is not true.  In fact, President Obama had multiple meetings with republicans to give the impression that he was open to working things out.

Rep. Boehner told about being invited to the White House and meeting with the President and his closest advisors to talk about the Republican’s ideas.  He said that President Obama seemed very open to our ideas, commented favorably about some of them and Boehner left feeling hopeful.  The bill came out a short time later and EVERY single suggestion had been utterly and completely ignored.

To provide HOPE, President Obama needs to give the American People something to be hopeful for.  Right now, he’s only throwing money at problems that will have almost no effect on our economy.  To bring about CHANGE to the millions of Americans who bought into the sales pitch he made during the campaign, he needs to stand up and challenge wasteful spending, not just ignore and propose it.

It’s actually pretty scary knowing that our president has that kind of character.  You can’t just throw words and personality at people and problems.  There must be some substance.  Will anyone ever provide that again?
