It’s about time. He hasn’t been a Republican for a long time by the votes he has cast. Make no mistake, I’m not a Republican myself, but the GOP historically has been closer to my own political feelings during my lifetime.
I love that he blamed it on how the right wing nuts like me have caused the party to leave him. In my opinion, the party has never been more liberal. For the last 4 years at least, the GOP has constantly backed down and refused to stand up for it’s platform. I think you have to fight fire with fire, and they haven’t done that on a national scale.
So, goodbye to Mr. Specter. Hopefully you will also resign your seat in the Senate as you begin to run again as a Democrat.
